STATUS GIZI DAN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADL) PADA KEJADIAN HIPERTENSI DI SEKOLAH LANSIA TANGGUH KOTA PASURUAN

Background: Hypertensive in the elderly increase the risk of morbidity, mortality and reduce the quality
of life. Malnutrition and less physical activity can increase the risk of hypertension. However, there is no
research that examines the relationship of nutritional status and physical activity with the incidence of
hypertension in the elderly in Pasuruan. Objective: to assess the relationship of nutritional status and
ADL to the incidence of hypertension in Sekolah Lansia Tangguh Kota Pasuruan. Methods: Analytical
survey research with a cross-sectional research design. Nutritional status and ADL are independent
variables. Meanwhile, the incidence of hypertension in this study is the dependent variable. This research
was conducted at Sekolah Lansia Tangguh Kota Pasuruan, in August 2023. The data used in this research
is secondary data from DP3AKB Kota Pasuruan. The sample in this research was 105 elderly school
students, obtained by consecutive sampling. Data analysis used chi-square test. Results: There is a
significant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly (p =
0.003), but there is no significant relationship between ADL and the incidence of hypertension in the
elderly (ρ = 0.793). Conclusion: Nutritional status and incidence of hypertension in the elderly have a
significant relationship. While ADL and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly did not have a
significant relationship. It is recommended to the elderly to control nutritional status and physical activity
to control blood pressure.
