ANALISIS FAKTOR DETERMINAN STUNTING PADA BALITA DI WILAYAH PUSKESMAS PILOLODAA KOTA GORONTALO

Abstract

Background: Stunting is a condition of malnutrition with TB/U indicators which indicate chronic
nutritional problems. As a result of interviews conducted with nutrition officers from the Pilolodaa
Community Health Center, data was obtained that the cause of stunting in the area was due to
inappropriate feeding and exclusive breastfeeding. This was related to maternal education and family
socio-economics. However, currently, the relationship between feeding patterns and exclusive
breastfeeding on the incidence of stunting among toddlers in Pilolodaa Village has not yet been studied.
Objective: The research aims to analyze the relationship between the determinants of stunting, namely
maternal characteristics (age, education and employment), family income, feeding patterns and
exclusive breastfeeding on the incidence of stunting in Pilolodaa Village. Method: The method used is
analytical with a cross-sectional approachSampling was taken using the total sampling technique as
much as 43 respondents. The research was conducted in Pilolodaa Village from 26 June to 7 July 2023.
Data were collected by questionnaires and toddlers' height was measured using a microtoise which was
converted into a standardized value (z-score). Data were analyzed using the Spearmen's Rho test.
Results: The results of the study showed that the determinant factors for toddler stunting, namely
maternal characteristics, were not significant at p>0.05 for the incidence of stunting. However, the factors of feeding patterns, exclusive breastfeeding, and family income are significant
determinants at p<0.05 of the incidence of stunting. Conclusion: There was a relationship between
feeding patterns, exclusive breastfeeding and family income on the incidence of stunting among toddlers
in the Pilolodaa, while there is no relationship with maternal characteristics.
