Background: Food safety is an essential aspect of the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG) because unsafe food poses a risk of causing health problems. Food handlers play a strategic role in maintaining food quality and safety; therefore, improving their knowledge and attitudes through educational interventions is necessary. One such approach is the use of poster media, which is easy to understand. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effectiveness of food safety poster media in improving the knowledge and attitudes of food handlers at the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) of the MBG Program. Methods: This study employed a quantitative quasi-experimental design with a pretest–posttest control group. The sample consisted of 66 food handlers who were divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group received education using poster media, while the control group did not receive poster media. Data were collected using knowledge and attitude questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability, and were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analyses with the Wilcoxon and Mann–Whitney tests. Results: The results showed an increase in knowledge and attitudes in both groups after the intervention. However, the mean score increase in the experimental group was higher and significantly different compared to the control group (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Thus, poster media is effective in improving knowledge, but less effective in changing attitudes within a short period of time.
